Tenovus - your cancer charity
At Tenovus our aims are simple: to prevent, treat and help find a cure for cancer. In doing that we offer support, advice and treatment for cancer patients and their families, and we do this where it is needed most - right at the heart of the community.
We also carry out vital cancer research - in fact Tenovus funded scientists were the first to develop the use of Tamoxifen, now the world's most successful breast cancer drug.
Our unique Mobile Cancer Support Unit has now been on the road for 3 months, and so far over 1,000 people have been 'on board our bus'! Visit our 'Bus Blog' to find out when we'll be in your area and find out more about this innovative cancer support project.'
our research
In 1965, Tenovus embarked on a project which was to change our focus for good. We opened the Tenovus Institute for Cancer Research in Heath, Cardiff.
Tenovus laboratories were also set up at the Velindre Radiotherapy Hospital in Whitchurch, Cardiff. And in 1971 Tenovus funded the building and equipping of Cancer Research Laboratories in Southampton.
ryder cup 2010
Tenovus is thrilled to be the official charity of Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Ltd. We have lots of golfing events and activities to become involved in over the next few years, so we hope you will join us!
Through our partnership with Ryder Cup Wales, we hope to raise £1 million. This will fund a Mobile Cancer Unit and will help us set up support centres across Wales, meaning that cancer patients can access vital treatment and support closer to home.
