Our sing for life choir
The Tenovus Sing for Life Choir is a truly remarkable choir made
up of people who have been affected by cancer. It was established
in January, initially as a research project to measure the health
and psychosocial benefits of singing for cancer patients and their
families. It has since developed into a strong support network
for its members who now meet on a weekly basis in the South Wales
Valleys to learn new fun songs and rehearse for regular
performances.
Our motivation for setting up the choir was to give those
who have been affected by cancer a space to come together in a fun,
positive and energetic way and focus on something other than their
cancer.
The choir is run in partnership with the motivational and team
building company Sing and Inspire who ensure that the choir
practices are always fun and inclusive, whilst also shaping
the choir into a top class live act!
The Sing for Life Choir has been so successful it has led to
Tenovus securing funding to launch 15 new choirs across Wales under
the title of Sing
