Recruiting now for Sing for Life Choirs in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr
Wednesday 16th December 2009
Tenovus, Wales’s leading cancer charity, is looking for people in the Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr areas who have been affected by cancer to join their first “Sing for Life” choir. You don’t have to have any experience at singing - fun, community and health improvement are the name of the game rather than a search for the next X Factor winner.
The choirs will be getting together early in the New Year and practicing once a week in venues across the South Wales Valleys. Tenovus hopes this will be the start of similar Sing for Life choirs spreading across Wales.
Diane Raybould, Chairman of Rhondda Breast Friends said: "I think it is a brilliant idea, I love singing and it really does raise my spirits. I found it kept me going during a difficult time. There is loads of interest from our group, especially after I led our ladies in a carol session after our Christmas dinner to give them a taster of how good it felt and they were all smiling and laughing afterwards, it was brilliant. They can't wait to get started now. "
Alison Upton from Tenovus said: “By uniting in song we are hoping to improve people’s health as well as give mutual support to those affected by cancer. If you live in the Rhondda Cynon Taff or Merthyr areas and are interested in joining one of our new choirs we would love to hear from you before Christmas.”
