Bereaved family member undertakes Marathon row for Tenovus
Monday 24th May 2010
Men are dying of ignorance! Every year around 9000 men are diagnosed with cancer, that’s over 22 men every day in Wales alone, resulting in 5,000 deaths.
Tenovus ‘Tackle It’ campaign aims to raise awareness of male cancer and encourage men to engage more with their health services. Paul Allen, who lost a family member to cancer, is supporting the campaign by embarking on a huge challenge – to row the complete distance of a full marathon, a staggering 42 km on a static rowing machine!
Paul, who lost his cousin, Jason Phillips in 2008 to malignant melanoma will be undertaking the challenge in aid of Tackle It! on Saturday 5th June in Queen’s Arcade. Jason was supported by Tenovus and received practical advice and information from Tenovus Welfare Rights Officers.
Paul, who works for New Law Solicitors in Cardiff said;
“Tenovus supported my family when they needed it most – it is now time to give back”
Anne Pash, Tenovus Community Fundraiser said;
“Paul has decided to do something positive to help us make a difference to the lives of so many cancer patients and their families and we are extremely grateful to him and his colleagues at New Law who will be sponsoring his challenge.
