Support for Welsh Charity Tenovus at Wales Open
Tuesday 1st June 2010
Tenovus, Wales’ leading cancer charity, will reap the rewards as charity partner of The Celtic Manor Wales Open which returns next week.
The Celtic Manor Wales Open, now in its eleventh year, has established itself as one of the leading events on the European Tour and is supporting Tenovus, its charity partner, by raising money at the Gala Dinner on Tuesday 1st June. This money will directly support frontline cancer services for patients.
Lianne Toye, Head of Corporate Fundraising at Tenovus said,
“We are delighted to be the charity partner of both The Celtic Manor Wales Open and Ryder Cup Wales 2010 which will take place later this year. Money will be raised through auctions and an envelope collection in corporate hospitality on tournament Saturday. These funds will be of huge benefit to cancer patients and help us to keep our Mobile Cancer Support Unit on the road – which has carried out 800 cancer treatments to date.”
Barclays Corporate, official sponsor of the Wales Open gala dinner, has confirmed that it will match fund any money raised for the charity at elements of the tournament.
Lianne Toye added,
“We would like to thank Barclays Corporate for giving its support to Tenovus by agreeing to match fund monies raised at the tournament. This will further help us to maintain our current services and develop more support services for cancer patients.”
Rebecca Joy, Director of Special Events at the Celtic Manor Resort said,
“Tenovus Mobile Cancer Support Unit is special to us here as The Celtic Manor Resort because it was launched here last February and has proved to be of great benefit to cancer patients throughout Wales. We would like to thank Barclays Corporate for its ongoing sponsorship of The Celtic Manor Wales Open and we really appreciate the additional commitment to match fund monies raised for Tenovus.
John Union, Head of Wales, Barclays Corporate said;
“As official sponsors we are looking forward to the Wales Open returning next week. It’s great that we can support our charity partners and we are very happy to further support Tenovus through match funding for the second year in a row.”
