Thomas the Tank pulls in at Tenovus
Tuesday 1st June 2010
Tenovus’ Llangollen shop is calling for ‘Thomas the Tank’ donations to celebrate a special visit from the real Thomas the Tank Engine who arrives in the town throughout the month of June.
Thomas the Tank engine first appeared in 1946 featuring in a series of books by the Rev. W. Awdry and came to life as a TV character in 1979. Since then Thomas has become a world-wide hit and is a recognised British institution.
Sue Hayes, Area Manager for Wales said,
“We are delighted that Thomas is coming to Llangollen and are in desperate need of Thomas the Tank engine memorabilia to promote the visit. We would like the public to help support this by donating to the Tenovus shop on Castle Street, so that we can pay tribute to what is a huge part of British heritage.”
We would also encourage donors to sign up for Gift Aid whilst they are in store which is a quick and simple way for us to claim extra money - 28p in every pound - from the tax man.”
Gift Aid is a simple and easy way for charities to claim money that would otherwise go straight to the tax man. The donor completes a Gift Aid declaration form requiring their contact details which is then processed by Tenovus volunteers and staff. This extra money is vital to fund Tenovus Freephone Cancer Support Line, Mobile Cancer Support Unit and counseling service helping thousands of patients and families through their cancer journey.
If you would like to help us in the shop by volunteering a few hours a week, please pop in, we would love to have you!”
