Commenting on the award, Tenovus’ Chief Executive, Claudia McVie said;
“John has made an enormous input to Tenovus over the last fifty years and this significant contribution has directly affected the lives of cancer patients and families across the UK. We are tremendously proud of the commitment and support that John has provided and we are delighted to continue our relationship helping support more people with cancer.
It was John’s vision, drive and focused working in partnership with others that gave Tenovus a distinct role amongst cancer charities, as a fundraiser for cancer research, patient care and education.”
Dr Burke added
“I am extremely honoured to have received this award and am delighted to continue supporting Tenovus and the tremendous work that is carries out. Tenovus is a wonderful organisation that helps so many patients and families living with cancer.”
Tenovus helps prevent, treat and find a cure for cancer. In doing so, it offers support, advice and treatment for cancer patients, information on cancer prevention and funding for research to improve the outcomes for people with cancer. The work that Tenovus undertakes is carried out right at the heart of the community, where and when it is needed most.
