Wednesday 16th June 2010
Rob Brydon, BAFTA Cymru award winner and star of TV, and radio has become patron of Welsh cancer charity, Tenovus.
Port Talbot born Brydon, who plays Uncle Bryn in the popular TV comedy Gavin and Stacey, was approached by the charity and asked if he would become patron for its Tuesday Club; which has been established by a group of committed donors to Tenovus.
Rob Brydon said;
“I am delighted to lend my support to Tenovus by becoming patron of the Tuesday Club.. Tenovus is a well established charity here in Wales and they offer much needed support for patients with cancer through their services and help people when they need it most.”
Richard Nicholls, Director of Fundraising said;
“As a Welsh charity, to have the support of Rob Brydon as patron is wonderful and we are looking forward to working closely with him to help raise awareness of the growing range of services that we offer cancer patients.
Rob’s first duty will be to host our Summer Reception this year when our Tuesday Club members will meet. The original ten founders of the charity used to meet on a Tuesday to discuss ways in which they could raise money for good causes. We created the Tuesday club to honour that fact.
Rob Brydon will also take a tour of Tenovus’ Mobile Cancer Support Unit which will be situated at Cardiff’s City Hall for the evening; here he will meet with cancer patients and learn of their experiences.
