Tenovus marks Ryder Cup countdown with 100 hole challenge!
Tuesday 22nd June 2010
The countdown to The 2010 Ryder Cup has begun. There are only 100 days to go until one of the world’s largest sporting events makes it way to Wales. Tenovus, the official charity for Ryder Cup Wales, is marking the countdown by holding a 100 Hole Golfing Challenge.
The challenge consists of golfers playing 100 holes of golf in a 24 hour period and can take place on any Welsh golf course between mid June and mid July 2010.
Welsh Rugby legend Ieuan Evans is taking on the challenge at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on the 29th June.
Ieuan Evans said,
“I am delighted to be involved in the 100 hole challenge and helping to raise money for Tenovus. I love playing golf and this is definitely going to provide both a physical and mental challenge for me. I am thrilled that the money raised will go directly towards helping patients and families with cancer.”
Lianne Toye, Head of Corporate Sponsorship and Events for Tenovus said;
“This is the first time that 100 hole has been attempted and is a very exciting challenge for participants! The top 90 fundraisers will also receive two one day passes for The 2010 Ryder Cup, a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Tenovus has raised over £300,000 through the Ryder Cup Wales partnership which is the amount needed to run Tenovus’ Mobile Cancer Support Unit for a whole year! That is an amazing achievement and will help Tenovus to continue to bring cancer treatment and support to patients in the heart of their communities, when and where they need it most”.
