Carl Williams is our Young Volunteer of the year

Carl Williams

6 June 2012

Each week in the run up to our Volunteer Awards on 5 July, we'll be featuring one of our six award winners. This week is the winner of our Young Volunteer Award, Carl Williams, who volunteers in our Porth shop.

Carl joined Tenovus two years ago and was painfully shy; he found it difficult to hold a conversation with other staff or customers due to lack of confidence. Through his journey with the other volunteers and staff at the Porth shop, he has now built his confidence and takes part in all our fundraising events, playing a huge part in promoting Tenovus to his community.

He was nominated due to his exceptional attitude towards all the volunteers, whether he's supporting the older ladies or encouraging young volunteers to get involved. He is also studying for the NVQ Retail and Customer Services to further develop his skills.

Carl also recently joined our Sing for Life choir in Pontypridd and sang at our St. David's Day dinner in March… all this and he is still only 21 years old!

We will present Carl with his award at our Volunteer Awards night on July 5 at St David's Hotel, along with the winners of our 5 other categories. For our full list of winners please click here.
